Fraud AlertsW-8 Scam
Fraudulent letters claiming falsely to be from BFSFCU have been received by our members; the letters request that you complete the enclosed altered IRS W-8BEN form and return it to a Florida fax number. A copy of a passport is also requested. The letter claims that the form has to be returned in order to avoid a 30% withholding fee. The form asks for very specific confidential data. If you should receive a letter or email requesting such information, please contact the credit union to verify the validity of the request. |
