International Wire Transfers

BFSFCU offers our members the options of both receiving and sending domestic and international wire transfers. Please refer to our most current fee schedule for more information.

The information on this page is for requesting wire transfers outside the United States. If you wish to send money within the U.S., please view this page on domestic wire transfers.

Incoming International Wire Transfers

The Credit Union can receive incoming foreign wire transfers in both U.S. Dollars and in several currencies. We do not have a SWIFT code or any other international identifying code; all wires originating at foreign banks will need to be sent to the Credit Union through the originating bank’s correspondent bank in the U.S. for further credit to Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union, ABA Number 2540-7417-0, and the member’s name and account number. For specific wiring instructions for individual foreign currency wires, please choose a currency from the list below.

Please contact the Foreign Exchange Office at (202) 212-6440 for more information.

Outgoing International Wire Transfers

For our members’ convenience, we offer two methods of sending international wire transfers: in-person in our branches or through our eWires service within Online Banking.

In order to expedite outgoing transfer requests, it is recommended that you contact the beneficiary’s financial institution to obtain their preferred wiring and routing instructions before submitting your request.

eWires

Send wires electronically in Online Banking

eWires are the most convenient, most secure, and fastest method to initiate a wire transfer. Set up new wires or manage beneficiary information securely from within Online Banking. Login to Online Banking and click on "eWires" within the "Transfers" tab to get started.

In-Person Requests

Please note that, for your safety, BFSFCU has significant security procedures in place for wire transfer requests. Any number of things can increase the time required to process the request, such as insufficient information, verification measures for account security, or the number of intermediary banks.  If you have an urgent wire transfer request, please visit one of our branches by 2 pm on any normal business day to have the request expedited.
